Question: Do you think we have hit bottom in Real Estate?

( Back )

Answer #1:

Depends on what happens with our debt problem. If we can quit spending and start paying down our debt I think its near the bottom, if not then as they say, "You aint seen nothing yet". I think housing prices are somewhat reasonable now, they were way out of hand before. The key is a) physically being able to afford our debt meaning our GDP isnt totally used up paying down interest and b) seeing a return to fiscal responsiblity will give the private sector a sense of relief and stability where they will be willing to take some risk with stored capital.

Answer #2:

Maybe, maybe not.

The Obama attempt to subsidize the market, and prop it up, is going away, and there are real possibilities of another spate of foreclosures.

Answer #3:

No, but close, I heard a report today that stated an expected 2% drop in the next couple of months.

Answer #4:

Once Obama tax hikes kick in, then
1) many homeowners will lose jobs and/or their own private businesses
2) those lucky enough to keep the jobs will see that the bottom line on their paychecks diminished, eaten by new taxes.

Both categories will have harder time to pay mortgages, foreclosures will follow and the bottom of real estate market will fall out.

Answer #5:

That depends upon where in the nation you are located. In Florida you probably still have a year to go before housing improves. Here in Texas, the housing market never really suffered so you would be in good shape.

Answer #6:

NO. Repubs are working hard and will likely stop Obama from saving the economy. Recession will start again. Repubs will win Congress, Americans will suffer, and the wealthy will once again prosper. Guess who's buying up all those distressed properties? The poor folk?

Answer #7:

sorry
the tip of the iceberg has been hit
3 more years to find the bottom
40% to go

Answer #8:

No, it leveled off in my neck of the woods without hitting bottom!!

:-)
